Temple began her career in a series of 'Baby Bulesks.' However, when Fox signed her in 1934, the studio abandoned the infant image and let her be what she really was - an energetic, resilient, good-natured little girl. Sophisticated and by all measures a highly professional performer, Temple had no difficulty upstaging her experienced costar, many of whom were veteran performers. Among the films Temple made for Fox were The Little Colonel, Curly Top, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm and The Little Princess.
Although Temple made a number of films as a teenager, among them Miss Annie Rooney (1942) and The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer (1947), America had seemingly outgrown its infatuation with Shirley. The films were not successful and in 1949, she retired from acting at the age of twenty-one.
This film collection features many classic moments from Shirley Temple's relatively short but enormously successful screen career. (2 dvd set)
